He could also decline that player option and extend for much less AAV but multiple more years. Not super likely but I do think it’s a valid option for both sides assuming PG actually wants to somewhat prioritize a championship at this point in his career

Yea, and once he takes it he becomes an expiring contract and suddenly we have $55 mil in cap space and 6 tradeable first rounders to dangle around the league.

There is also a world where he doesn’t. Say he plays his ass off this year, and another team comes to him and offers 3 years for $22 million. It’s less per year than the one he has left, but overall a larger contract.
