Hello everyone

I made a post a few days ago about starting out and how to go about playing, the insight and assistance from everyone was incredible and I appreciate it greatly.

I made a monk and went martial arts cause I caved and found a guide that made a cool build and it was a bit overwhelming to go about it blindly.

So I’m playing with my cousin who has many hours in POE but not so much in POE2 so we are both getting our bearings.

We are in the main camp and someone randomly asks to trade me. Put 50 divine orbs and just send them my way, did the same for my cousin.

I have no idea what this means, he tells me we are rich.

I’m making us a guild now, we will be the Oil Barons.

I still don’t know what this means, but I’m in rich bliss taking baths in my orbs.

This is why I love these games, takes me back to classic D2 free item lobbies.

Will continue to spend all my free time grinding, loving the game so far.

If anyone want to tell me what being rich means I welcome it. If it turns out I’m not rich, lie to me please.

Other comment about relative richness is accurate for sure, but that’s still a sweet boost so early on!!

I’ll try and add some different tips here. At this point weeks into the league, many people are buying gear where each item, weapon, jewel, etc will cost tens, if not hundreds or even thousands of divines each. In which 50 doesn’t go very far (I sold a jewel last night for 445 divine as an example, granted it was near perfect)

But there is plenty of gear available on trade which isn’t that expensive, and sometimes listed for different currencies. Personally, I would take half of those divines, and convert them into chaos orbs at Ange. Entry level gear will often be priced in lower currency, mostly chaos.

When you search for items, at the bottom you can change what currency you want it to filter, and you can set a maximum amount. You might want an armour upgrade, but not spend a lot on it. So I would set whatever parameters I want on the item such as amount of es, or evasion, or armour, resistances, and so on, then scroll down and change it to say I would only pay a maximum of 20 chaos (roughly 2.5div at current exchange rate) then hit search

I’ll have to check out the trade area, I’ve mostly been looking into skills and synergies. I’ll didn’t know about breaking them down so thanks for that.

My monk build goes empty hand for the rest of the acts account to my build and I think it synergies with evasion so I’ll look at the market for what that is going for and break down accordingly

So if I’m looking for a good armor to get, do certain bases have evasion affixes or is it all random?

There are different bases for different gear. Say for armour pieces (chest, helmet, gloves, boots) there is evasion, energy shield, and armour. Then there are hybrid combinations as well if that’s something your build needs. If I wanted an energy shield chest, in the equipment filters I would set armour to a maximum value of zero, same for evasion, then make the energy shield minimum value whatever I was looking for. The trade site and in game trade seem a little daunting at first but you’ll use it a bit and quickly learn how you can filter to find what you want

Rich is relative term especially in Poe ! But for where you’re at you are for sure rich!

Your like in normal or early nightmare for d2 terms and had a bunch of random mid level runes dropped on you and stuff you can trade for uniques or whatever you want to make your leveling and early lte game easier! It’s not a “high rune” or a crazy runeword, but you have a huge leg up. Some cheap builds can run late game on that no problem, realistically you could also make that back in under an hour at max level doing fairly regular “mfing” or farming.

It’s a good start but he didn’t ruin your league or give you too much , if you were too rich it could make it less fun! Idk if your oil baron levels of rich , but organically for a lowbie to start out and have that currency each you would be from your perspective an oil baron so it works.

Thank for the relative D2 terms, I understand it much better now lol. I’ll have to look into what makes my build now and aim for those modifiers.

Seems like I can fund midgame and maybe take a shot of something that can help with late game but nothing BIS

Remember that this is reddit. 50 divine isn’t a “high rune” but it can be used to purchase MULTIPLE HR’s.

People on here are the top % of mf’ers and players and they lose track of what is relative to the other 99%. 50 divine won’t get you the literal BiS (hundreds+ divine per piece to play a walking explosion simulator) - but it will get you anything you could need to get to end game.

Hey you may be unaware , but to not confuse our newer op I want to set something straight. The joke and main consensus amongst Reddit is that they are extremely casual compared to your average sweaty player or streamer. The farm and builds presented are usually days or weeks old and collected from YouTube and streams.

There is not that much elite posting on Reddit for Poe ¹⁄₂ in the main sub Reddits like this one , and you have to join a separate sun to find more nerdy hardcore crowd.

Generally Reddit specifically this sub Reddit is considered very casual - casual in almost all aspects and is here to help many new people. It’s why there unfortunately can be a lot of differing and confusing posts on a topic until a few weeks or months into a season because perspectives are so wildly different when your not efficient and play how you want.

That being said Poe 1 and 2 are the most competitive aarpg season and economy wise and the base level of player is very skilled compared to any other game of the genre. It truly takes months and years of knowledge to build up a base competitive level , and even then things change fast. But here on this sub on Reddit we are “casual” for Poe standards for sure , but again Poe has high standards.

Also is 50 div really able to purchase multiple hrs Diablo equation? I know there are like 300/500/1000+ an hour div farms and they generally require investment , but as a casual you could net 50 div in any decent hour in any type of farm without any investment or at most a chaos orb or two. Just simply using a single abyss tablet without any mods and no other tablets is around 30 div an hour without atlas tree even finished , there was a long post detailing how easy it was earlier over a 14 hour farm netting 30-40 div an hour on a brand new char running t5-t15 only alch orbs and a single tablet. Almost any farm if you cpl / roll maps and have your atlas tree done ( no specialty farm , no heavy investment ) just traveling to set up your farm you net around 50 divine an hour , this season and last season , confirmed mathematically many times.

A super high rune once an hour in d2 was just never a thing , it’s rare even in a mod like pd2 .

Any of the dozen legacy gems worth 200-2,000 div , any high currency like a lock , higher tier charms like rops 100+ div , obv chase items mb , hh , temp , these are “ high runes”. Just like Diablo game is beatable with nothing , but high runes is what makes it fun, 50 div most seasons has never been a high rune in Poe 2 .

This is more like it, I AM an Oil Baron. I played D2 for 20 years before I made enigma lol (didn’t trade much) but it seems like trading is a bigger part of this game so I’ll invest time to figure it out

Convert 1 divine to exalted orba, use exalts to buy upgrades steadily thru campaign and maps. When u hit a snag in maps u can start spending one 1-5 div item upgrades, 1 div per slot is enough to do t16 maps typically for me

Where do you exchange divines for gear during the campaign? Is there a vendor somewhere? For reference I’m on the grand caravan main quest line on act 2.

I guess it technically unlocks in act4, ive heard people say you can warp to a sellers hideout and use their ange for currency exhange, idk if it still works
