[Zuckerman] Cade Cavalli is not going to make another start this season. Nationals are thrilled with how he did in his first full MLB season, made every scheduled start, got to 200 strikeouts, felt there was no reason to push him any further.
With his injury history this makes complete sense. Huge jump in innings since last year. We know what we have. Let’s let someone else get rocked

I’d recommend it. Playoffs are already such a crapshoot I feel like last week of the season shenanigans makes it even more bananas (and not in a good way).
Definitely do it. It is still mostly nornal with much less scheduling shenanigans to line-up pitchers for the playoffs or rest dudes whose teams are out of it.

Seriously. Despite being a total asshole, dude’s been one of my most reliable starters.
At the end of the day the team had a fantastic season, Cavalli especially. With a league average bullpen its a playoff team with a great offense and solid starters which who knows what could happen at that point. Instead it was an abysmal bullpen and I hope they make a lot of moves in the offseason trying to improve it.
