That Luka game was absolutely bonkers, with mavs overcoming a 9 point differential in (less than) the last minute, Luka missing a FT on purpose, catching the reb and hitting the shot to tie the game, then finishing the job in OT.

Luka and Harden have very similar rebounding, nothing special on the offensive glass and they fluff total rebound numbers off of uncontested defensive boards that their teammates defer to them as ball handlers, Luka just gets a higher volume deferred to him.

A ton of your modern ball handling guard/wings like Luka, Lebron, Harden, etc are really just uncontested defensive boards merchants at the end of the day, and it’s especially bad for guys like Luka and Lebron who are pretty weak on the offensive glass for their size/position.

Westbrook was always a guy seen as a rebounding stat padder, and he definitely was on the defensive side at times, but he also clears the other guys I listed on the offensive glass by quite a bit.

Luka will finally nearly have a legit team built around him for the first time like harden did. That Mavs 23-24 team still wasn’t really optimized around him properly and was cobbled up at trade deadline. They still need a PF and backup c which they hopefully should get before season starts or at deadline.
