I know the league made a big deal about the 75th anniversary, but I haven’t heard anything about the 80th. I’m a Celtics season ticket holder and I remember that as the 75th season was getting close, all of the communications I got from the team prominently acknowledged it. I’ve begun getting emails and such about this season, but have seen no acknowledgement of it being the 80th season. I’m guessing they’re not doing anything.

do you remember if it was a general NBA 75th anniversary? or Celtics 75th.

Because I feel like the Celtics could do their own thing for 80, but it was just a random thought

The branding was more in line with the NBA’s 75th anniversary, but emails and other comms would say things like “as the Celtics get ready to tip off their historic 75th season” or something along those lines. There’s been nothing like that so far this year.

Funny enough, even though the NBA counts its first game as 1946, the reality is there was no such thing as the NBA until 1949. If you went back in time to 1946 and asked people on the street about the NBA, nobody would know what you were talking about because no such league under that name existed

not really a milestone number, there was a whole thing for 75, I doubt they’re going to be doing a new celebration every 5 years
