You’re still on Mobalytics, reading the original guide :) I just rearranged the page, not moved the content somewhere else. It does hide ads though, so yeah, the revenue concern is fair.
Their ads are the worst, no sympathy here.
Do you think the creators get ad money based on how many people look at their guide? No, the site gets ad money, the creators get a standard amount for using and promoting that site. You’re telling me, you don’t use ad blockers anywhere on the internet?
The ads on those sites are cancer. They literally make my fps drop for me if left open while playing, anytime a lot is happening on screen anyway. Even with blockers. With that said, I also highly doubt The guide sites are not sharing ad revenue from traffic to specific player guides and click throughs.
Could be wrong, but it’s not their monetized page. It’s the websites monetized page and they’re likely paid to use it to host their guides.
Even if they are being paid by ads shown, I’m not turning them on for those cancerous sites.
That’s a great concern/point. I like the idea of this tool, but would be fine if they could bridge the ads through for the content creators/platforms. Especially if you ask for donations/support, it’s essentially stealing their content and selling it for yourself.
I get your point, but look at the screenshot :) Half the screen is ads or space reserved for them, and I’m just trying to check my build. The layout itself was already a pain to use.
Getting rid of that clutter was why I made the extension, so I don’t want to bring it back. It’s free, open source, and you’re still on Mobalytics reading the original guide. Yeah, blocking ads affects revenue, but “stealing content and selling it” is a bit much.
It’s really unfortunate we had to go through what is now seven complete sentences before we could just call this what it is, theft.
I’d reinstall chrome just to use this next league. The mobalytics layout just sucks, and is easily my least favorite build guide site, so thank you!
