[MLB Update] The Braves have released the following info: OF Ronald Acuña Jr. left tonight’s game due to a left shin contusion. X-rays were negative and he is day-to-day.

He’s just going to have a golf ball attached to his shin for a few days, no big deal (thankfully).

Good news? Not a broken bone. 4 games behind LAD so they could rest starters with 5 or 6 games left and get ready for the wild card vs who knows

That would’ve been the worst for the Braves. The Braves are essentially a lock for the number 3 seed. They are basically playing meaningless games the rest of the way. Imagine if they lost Acuña for the postseason in one of these games.
assuming they lose to the reds today, probably better to just give up on the 3 seed and take it easy for the rest of the season.

our number is 3 at this point, so they’d basically have to go 6-0 unless we completely collapse (considering we play the giants to end the season, not super likely)
Even if the Dodgers get swept by the Padres, they’d still be ahead of the Braves by one game assuming the Braves sweep their series (unlikely at this point). The Dodgers will also be playing with a full roster with Rushing, Pages, and Ohtani returning. So yeah, very unlikely to be taking the 2nd seed from them.

Jokes aside, I really do think it would be smartest for them to take it easy the rest of the way. They’ve already won the division and unless the Brewers/Dodgers lose out the rest of the way, the Braves aren’t getting a bye. It just makes sense to ensure their best players are healthy for the postseason.

I agree, but also I’m going tomorrow night, so you know, mixed feelings. I got the tickets because they were ultra-cheap but fully expecting they’d be resting their best guys who aren’t Matt Olson, though, so I’d be perfectly fine if they took it a bit easier.
I worry about getting out of rhythm/rust with too much time off, it should be balanced rest days rotated for everyone,and time off for anyone with even a slight injury concern of course

I’ve heard “he’s day-to-day” quickly get followed by “60-day IL” too many times to believe it right away, but I’ll take whatever good news we can get.
